Fox Global Energy Initiative

At Fox, being efficient and sustainable is a fundamental business practice. Sustainability has been essential to the success of Fox for more than three decades and, with the launch of the Global Energy Initiative in 2007, has become an integral part of how we do business. 21st Century Fox is committed to minimizing its environmental impact, growing sustainably and inspiring others to take action.

Our long-term vision is to:

  • Grow our business without growing our carbon footprint
  • Power our operations with clean electricity
  • Minimize solid waste to landfill from our production operations
  • Engage audiences, customers and partners on sustainability issues through programs and content of the highest caliber

We have made enormous strides in improving the energy efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of our business, from keeping 85% of our waste out of landfills every year to recycling sets on our film and TV productions, and building new digital systems that have eliminated our need to produce and deliver paper scripts and dailies on tape. At the same time, we have continued our strong tradition of leadership and innovation in our industry.

In addition to our operational initiatives, we continue to engage our employees on sustainability issues through programs like Fox Commute, which rewards employees who walk, ride a bike, take public transit or carpool or vanpool to work; as well as a hybrid and alternative fuel vehicle incentive of up to $4,000 towards the purchase or lease of an electric, natural gas or hybrid car.

Through all of our efforts, we have proven that environmental consciousness is not only good for our communities – and expected of us by our audiences – but it is also good for business.
